Employment Readiness Training

Girls Matter Too will collaborate with Racine County Job center for youth employment services and workforce solution.

  • Assistance with preparing a professional resume

  • Interview techniques and preparation.
  • Information on training and financial aid resources for skill development.
  • Information on salaries, job market and companies.

Life Skills

Girls will focus on independent living skills, building self-esteem, anger management skills, problem solving, critical thinking, communication skills, decision-making, how to develop healthy relationships, and empathy and coping with stress skills.

Individual/group counseling and character development groups

  • Provide a safe, secure, and nurturing environment for the girls.
  • Provide behavioral, social and emotional counseling and monitor the overall progress of
    the girls.
  • Create healthy relationships with the girls and engage with the girls to help find solutions
    to their own challenges.
  • Work with the girls who have experienced trauma such as abuse or neglect to provide
    therapy to help in the development of coping skills and improvement of quality of life.
  • Collaborate and participate in the creation of case plans that incorporate evidence-based
    practices and trauma-informed care and science-aligned principles.

Mentoring Programs

Girls Talk provides a framework where teenage girls can meet together to find strength, learn new skills and create a network of support, which includes academic and employment. Community members (females) will be assigned to the girls with similar demographics. Mentors
and mentees participate in community activities, field trips, and weekly mentor meetings.
